Arrochar 10K Run

17th September 2016

An annual multi-trail 10K run has commenced in Arrochar to take over from a previous cross-country run last organised in 1947.

The inaugural race of the new era started at 10.30 am on the 17th September in glorious weather which allowed the competitors to see Arrochar and its immediate surrounds at its best. Around 100 competitors started and completed the scenic course. The runners were sent off with a starting horn operated by Mr Arthur Ross, a winner of the previous event back in 1946. They moved smoothly out of sight at Stronafyne and in due course ascended the Succoth Hill and then down the mountain bike track to Ardgartan. They ran around the Ardgartan area and then back to the finish at the Cobbler car park using the broad pavement at the side of Loch Long.
