September 2015 to March 2016
We provided a total of 140 hours of therapeutic counselling to 8 families of children with disabilities over the six month period from September 2015 until March 2016. Our confidential service is unique on Bute, and is provided by an experienced Clinical Child Psychologist. The work undertaken included post-diagnosis counselling, help with understanding multiple aspects of a child’s disability, helping siblings understanding and helping families to deal with traumatic incidents and challenging behaviour.
We set out to provide a healthy breakfast for learners using the workshop Café , an employability café for people claiming benefits and folk looking for work.
On average the Workshop Café sees 20+ people a week on a Thursday morning in Lochgilphead Community centre.
26 people on the first trip to Lomond Shores and 30 on the second to Stirling.
We aimed to provide an opportunity to bring people together outside of their normal setting, to meet new people and form new friendships. The majority were over 65 and some volunteers were from a local mental health group.
