We started in August 2013 with the aim of providing a safe, secure and confidential environment for people with cancer.
We try and alternate meetings, one with a theme e.g. speaker, and one an open meeting enabling members to talk and share.
We set out to raise awareness of the help available from Kintyre Food Bank across rural Kintyre. We also wanted to produce a recipe booklet using ingredients provided in food parcels.
September 2015 to March 2016
We provided a total of 140 hours of therapeutic counselling to 8 families of children with disabilities over the six month period from September 2015 until March 2016. Our confidential service is unique on Bute, and is provided by an experienced Clinical Child Psychologist. The work undertaken included post-diagnosis counselling, help with understanding multiple aspects of a child’s disability, helping siblings understanding and helping families to deal with traumatic incidents and challenging behaviour.
